[Photos] 1960s An Loc: The Calm Before the Storm

A rare collection of photos shows how residents in the countryside of southern Vietnam lived in the late 1960s.

During this period, while Saigoneers were experiencing some of the city’s most robust pre-war years, life in more rural provinces wasn’t as glamorous.

This particular set of images was taken by John Beck in An Loc Commune, now located in Binh Phuoc Province, a sleepy town is a few hours away from Ho Chi Minh City.

Have a look at the peaceful town just a few years before it became embroiled in the events in 1972:
