Rule of Three

ADAM PALMETER
Rule of Three is a new collection from 2016 exhibiting groups of three versions of different abstract work, each maintaining a constant theme of explosive freedom versus patterned, consistent order. Life happens to us in moments and the ones that matter are not subtle. Rule of Three is a series of paintings attempting to capture scenery and emotion in the explosive moment as well as the restrictions we face in the aftermath of the stagnant structured life. These “explosions” are the moments that matter most and are the sheer representation of existence itself; the birth of a star, the birth of a child, the death-rattle, the burst of orgasm, the sharp gravity of coming into consciousness, altering our lives. It’s these moments we treasure, fear and tirelessly pursue for the entirety of our lives. Along with these explosions come the restriction of order as seen in the pattern of straight lines and consistent patterning of abstract brush strokes. When life becomes uniform and contained, nature reacts with a violent ebb and flow. With the regularity of life come a confinement and the debris from past explosions, simply float through our days. Life happens to us in moments and the ones that matter are not subtle. The work in Rule of Three attempts to capture the scenery and emotions we find in the explosive moments as well as the mundane. Artist Bio: Adam Palmeter is an abstract expressionist painter from Syracuse, NY and is currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
