Nha Trang Celebrates Year of the Dog With Canine Beauty Pageant

The top 10 dogs will participate in a Dog Fashion Show held on Monkey Island on the third day of Tet.

On February 11th, over 40 dogs participated in a dog beauty contest in front of Khanh Hoa Museum in Nha Trang, reports Dan Tri. The contest was hosted by Nha Trang's Dog Club and began with a dog parade down Tran Phu Street.

Huskies, Alaskans, Poodles, Tibetan Mastiffs, Miniature Pinschers, Dachshunds, and many others breeds competed in a qualification round, where they showcased their best red carpet poses. The top 10 best contestants were then selected to progress to the final round where the winner, along with first, second, and third runner-ups were decided.

The top 10 contestants will also be heading to Monkey Island for a canine fashion show held on February 18.

According to Nguyen Nhu Y, director of the Nha Trang Dog's Club, the purpose of this competition is "to create an opportunity for dog owners to meet and share their experiences, all the while creating a playground for the pets. All dogs participated are vaccinated for rabies prevention."

Poodle-owner, Tran Cao Tien shared his feelings with Dan Tri: "My puppy is only one year old and it's his first time joining the contest. It's an opportunity for the dogs to get to know each other and see how it's like being on stage. It would be cool if we win something, if not, we'll try again next time with more experiences."
