As HCMC’s relationship with international taxi booking app companies becomes increasingly tumultuous, the city has launched its own app which is available for mobile devices.

On December 18, HCMC Department of Science and Technology introduced LiveTaxi, according to Vietnam Net.
The app (which was curiously absent from both the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store when we checked this morning) has been made available to the city’s various taxi companies and allows users to view a list of drivers and the location and status of taxis, in addition to booking features. Like other similar apps, it will estimate fares and arrival times for the service.
Apparently the app has been in the works for a while as the Department of Science and Technology's Standards, Metrology and Quality Division and Huy Hoang Training and Development Joint Stock Company ran a pilot program with Mai Linh and Vinasun for LiveTaxi in 2013.
