This August, CAM Philharmonic's fifth concert presents the magnificent musical universe of two legendary composers and orchestrators, John Williams and Ennio Morricone, featuring MORE THAN 20 SOUNDTRACKS from blockbuster films including Harry Potter, Star Wars, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Cinema Paradiso, The Mission, Once Upon a Time in the West, and more.

Field Study Area: Beside the bustling urban center of Saigon - Chợ Lớn, there is still an old Gia Định that has quietly endured through countless changes. It is the land to the north and west of the city, where every brick and roof tile of its historical sites preserves the pride and cultural depth of the Vietnamese people across centuries. Let Ông Huyện be your guide as you unlock centuries-old stories and connect with the soul of old Gia Định.
Location: The former districts of District 11, Gò Vấp, Phú Nhuận, and Tân Phú, now the wards of Hạnh Thông, Thông Tây Hội, Đức Nhuận, and Phú Thọ Hòa.
Time: 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Saturday, 19.07.2026. Pickup at Bến Thành Market.
Planned field study locations (there may be more or fewer depending on time and on-site conditions):

7:00AM: Gather at the meeting point at the West Gate of Bến Thành Market.
7:30AM: Depart by vehicle to Hạnh Thông Ward.

Exploring with "Ông Huyện" is an 8–10 hour spontaneous journey to a location within Ho Chi Minh City or within an 80 km radius of the city center.

The trip is designed as an in-depth field study, allowing participants to explore each destination in detail. The field study area will be announced one month in advance. These locations or destinations have never appeared in Echoing Trip / Echoing Journey. The trip is guided by the leader's extensive fieldwork experience and solid academic knowledge. Dining venues are also carefully selected based on experience and recommendations from local residents.

The trip will only take place with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 5 participants. The participation fee is 1,500,000 VND per person, including transportation by 7-seat vehicle, materials, audio receiver, guide, breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, coffee, and drinking water.

A Solo Exhibition: The Invisible Life @ 22 Gallery

"The Invisible Life" is a solo exhibition by artist Nguyễn Quốc Dũng. Through his artistic practice, Dũng addresses the complex issues unfolding in the city where he lives.

His body of work offers powerful insights into reality, drawing attention to social forces such as economic and generational change, from abandoned neighborhoods to overpopulation, the lack of private space, and the impoverished people left behind by the wave of urbanization.

Using oil paint, he creates reflective images of reality, portraying the circumstances of low-wage workers, lives marked by constant uncertainty, rising inflation, and the indifference fostered by materialism, technology-driven consumerism, and their consequences. The exhibition reveals the invisible conditions of the contemporary city.

Dũng's work is the result of direct observation combined with fictional elements that he carefully edits into his paintings. This approach allows him to examine changing social contexts while exploring subjective perspectives on history, geopolitics, and art.

"The Invisible Life" features works that Dũng has created consistently from 2021 to the present, spanning a wide range of themes inspired by his ongoing dialogue with life. Each work tells its own story, hidden beneath the everyday lives of people in the city.

"Imaging, A Way of Seeing" is a collaborative exhibition project between Annam Gallery and the 05.Sketch collective, showcasing the artistic practices of nine emerging artists. Rooted in shared sketching sessions, the recording of reality gradually transforms into highly personal interpretations. Here, the imagery no longer merely reflects immediate vision; instead, it is shaped through memory, emotion, intuition, and experimentation with the language of painting.

The exhibition is a convergence of nine distinct creative currents. It is a process of reimagining the world through profound personal experiences - ranging from sketching journeys to seemingly static moments of everyday life.

The exhibition opens up a space of intersection between independent practices. Each artist approaches imagery, medium, and painting in their own singular way - not to directly mimic reality, but to construct highly personal interpretations. These differences do not form boundaries; rather, they collectively expand the expressive possibilities of painting, creating a space where multiple ways of seeing and distinct visual languages coexist in dialogue.

ABOUT 05.SKETCH

05.Sketch originated from the sketching sessions of students at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts, driven by the belief that every artistic journey begins with a first stroke. Evolving from a study group into a creative community, 05.Sketch is a collective where each member pursues an independent artistic practice while sharing a spirit of exploration, experimentation, and a relentless desire to push the boundaries of contemporary painting.

The exhibition "Imaging, a Way of Seeing" is an invitation to explore the fresh, open, and vibrant creative perspectives of a generation of artists who are step by step defining their voice in Vietnamese contemporary art.

Rare Sea and Ngài are pleased to introduce “Cruising Utopia”, a group exhibition featuring Nhân Phan, Hiếu Ngọc, Hoàng Anh and Vỹ Lân. Spanning works from sculpture, silk paintings, installation, performance to a showcase of the fifth collection from Ngài, the exhibition dives into multi-perspectives of entering, being within and beyond the utopian world. Together, the artists propose and investigate utopianism as an alternative mode of queer being—one that records history, hosting refugees, and imagines otherwise.
Inspired by José Esteban Muñoz's “Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Queer Futurity”, the exhibition is a collective gesture of a queer hope—a critical desiring that stems from the recognition of something not-yet-here in a system yet to accommodate queerness. Cruising Utopia is a coming together of Vietnamese queer artists and creatives from different disciplines, to conjure a beginning and sketch out a schema for a collective queer utopia, where the past nourishes the possibilities of the future, structured by queer hope and longing.

ABOUT NGÀI

Established in 2023, Ngài is a fashion brand that explores the Viet queer identity. Ngài embodies the tension between opposing definitions: between masculinity and femininity, between the established power and the ephemeral myths.
Ngài shifts fluidly across the grey areas of semantics, culture, and gender; blur the binaries and make way for new expressions that are ambiguous, gender-defying, disruptive, and intimate.

Through fashion, Ngài traces the unique experiences of queerness and aspires to furthermore build a community that celebrates diversity and creative expressions through different collaborations unlimited by our common fashion practice.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Hoàng Anh is a painter and a photographer based in Hanoi. In recent years, Hoàng Anh has centered her artistic practice on Vietnamese silk painting, where she orchestrates spontaneous dialogues between fine arts and fashion. Moving beyond traditional boundaries, her works represent a vibrant intersection of modern visual language and multifaceted personal experiences.

Inspired by the raw energy of Punk-rock, the symbolism of Pop-art, and the depth of various sub-cultures, Hoàng Anh's compositions maximize visual impact through bold and striking color palettes. For her, merging music, fashion, and photography onto silk not only creates novel experiences but also serves as a way to break away from artistic stereotypes.

Nguyễn Hiếu Ngọc is a young multidisciplinary artist based in Saigon. His practice spans performance, installation, and sculpture. Ngọc works with sensation and is interested in the tension between inner chaos and outward stillness, seeing the body as an in-between space that holds memories and emotions in constant movement. His works emerge from presence, personal observations, and a sensitivity to space, time, and the things unfolding around him.

Ngọc has participated with “Lắng Nghe Điểm Chạm”, an initiative for application potentials of performing arts into the life of Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals in Vietnam. He also worked with Young Boy Dancing Group, Bussy Temple, Dismal, Project Đẩy Sàn, and has performed at Nổ Cái Bùm, Goethe Institut HCMC, Tắm Đêm, and other independent art spaces.

Nhân Phan is a media artist, known for his work with software, installation, and film. Born into the Internet era and raised in transition across homes, his life is a scatter of moments, places, and people — both lived physically and digitally. Dwelling in this hybridity, Nhân's work becomes his manual for being human in the generation of tech. Here, algorithms and devices become agents of desire, interfering with reciprocity, producing both friction and pleasure. Nhân uses love and even cheesiness as critical gestures against the current overly design-driven tech industry, which increasingly diminishes human touch and moral complexity in pursuit of profit and surface appeal.

Nhân is a graduate candidate of UCLA's MFA in Media Arts, as a Fulbright student. He is the founder of CodeSurfing — a creative technology collective in Vietnam. He was a recipient, then a mentor of the Processing Fellowship, and a finalist of Lumen Prize.

Vỹ Lân (Linh Thân) is a filmmaker and community organizer whose work explores the psychological textures of urban life through cinema, text, and collective action. Lân founded Tắm Đêm (@tamdem_nightswim), a fluid poetry project that creates shared spaces for productive vulnerability, connecting individual voices via collective archives and collaborative writing experiments. At the core of the project's vision are poetry performances, collaborative writing, and experimentation – seeking, co-writing, and “translating” poetry. Tắm Đêm has developed numerous creative projects in collaboration with other community organizations, including Montez Radio & Press, Lèm Dị Dị Art Festival, VietPride, Hanoi Queer, EMASI Schools, Nguyen Art Foundation, among other partners.

X-Metal returns with its monthly show. This time, the event will take place at a new venue, though it has probably become quite familiar to many of you recently: Blue Monkey Bar, 199M Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, Thảo Điền. The lineup features three bands:

Deletion: This will also be the debut album release show for the band's first album, "Hư Vô". The band plays Melodic Death Metal with original songs in Vietnamese.
Infecated: A veteran Death Metal band that released "Predictable Death" in 2024.
Rot: A veteran Black Metal band returns with a set featuring songs from their newly released album "World Chaos".

The show starts at 8:00PM.
