Saigon-based private equity firm Mekong Capital just announced a US$6.9 million investment in Vietnamese restaurant chain Wrap & Roll.
Established in 2006, Wrap & Roll specializes in traditional Vietnamese food and currently operates 11 restaurants in Hanoi and Saigon, as well as four franchise locations in Singapore, according to Deal Street Asia.
Following the investment, Wrap & Roll is expecting to open a few more restaurants in Hanoi and Saigon. Later this year, the homegrown company will also introduce a new concept restaurant chain targeting a different market segment.
The investment came out of the Mekong Capital’s US$112 million Mekong Enterprise Fund III (MEF III), making it the fund’s first investment since its last call for capital last May, reports Thanh Nien. In the first three years of operation, MEF III aims to make 10 - 12 investments worth US$8 - 15 million each.
