VNA 'Accidentally' Operates Flights With All-Female Crew

In a relatively male-dominated field, female pilots are hard to find, not just in Vietnam but across the globe; according to the BBC, only 3% of commercial airline pilots worldwide are women.

On February 16, however, national carrier Vietnam Airlines “accidentally” scheduled four flights operated by an all-female crew, reports VnExpress.

The two female pilots, Huynh Ly Dong Phuong and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, flew an Airbus 321 on two round trips from HCMC to Quy Nhon and Da Nang, accompanied by a crew of four female flight attendants. Phuong and Bich are among Vietnam Airlines’ 10 female pilots, and Phuong is the only female captain in Vietnam qualified to fly an Airbus 321.

News of the all-female flight made its rounds on digital media, racking up tens of thousands of Likes and comments from approving readers, such as in the VnExpress link above.

Hopefully, there will be more “accidental” flights like this in future.
