How to Overcome Procrastination and Get Things Done @ The Learning Hub

From the organizer: Have you ever had a task to do that you kept postponing again and again. 

Saying to yourself “I actually need to do this…. but I could also do it tomorrow”, and then the next thing you know you are browsing through the endless social media feed or chatting with a friend, another day passed and you postponed it again.When the deadline approaches, you start to freak out and maybe pull an all-nighter to hastily work on it. In the end, you either couldn’t finish the task on time or the quality of your work isn’t something you are proud of. 

If this experience is familiar to you, then you are invited to join our workshop to be in good company and explore how to overcome our tendency to put things off even when we know we shouldn’t. Procrastination is a challenge we have all faced at one point or another. For as long as people have been around, we have been struggling with delaying, avoiding, and procrastinating on things that matter to us like: 

* writing an essay for university
* completing the scholarship application
* that awful work report you have to write
* replying that email help request from your colleague 

[Why do we procrastinate?]
There are a lot of reasons why we procrastinate, maybe we are unsure of how to start something or want to wait until the “right” inspiration strike us. Procrastinating is normal, we all do one way or the other, but it comes at a cost of missed opportunity or feeling of guilt or shame, because often times it’s the important and difficult tasks that we tend to procrastinate on. 

[What is the purpose of the workshop?]
During our more productive moments, when we are working on something we enjoy, time seems to speed up and you go through the task effortlessly -- somehow you temporarily figure out how to stop procrastinating -- we feel satisfied and accomplished. The purpose of the workshop is to help you make those rare moments of productivity more routine. 

[What will we do in the workshop?]
This workshop will give you the chance to share your experience with procrastination with other participants. We will explore WHY we procrastinate and HOW we can overcome procrastination. The workshop hosts Luong and Sebas will share proven frameworks you can use to beat procrastination and experiment useful strategies that will make it easier for you to take action. We want to bring you the best ideas and models from books, articles and podcast to help you tackle procrastination and get more done.
