From the organizer: AJAR Press is always (half)-open to welcome voices from elsewhere into Vietnam(ese), the encounter between beyond-bordered voices. This time, we will have the honour of having a conversation with American writer James Sherry.

James Sherry will present a pluralistic view of US poetry writing, editing, publishing, distribution and reading based on groups of poets that converge on the relationships between humanity and nature as a single complex entity. The emergence of global environmental awareness in the 1970s propelled American poets to focus first on language-centered writing and then on other common conduits through which people consider poetry—method, canon and identity. Environmentalism and globalism changed how we wrote and thought about the materials that yield poetry. We hope that our poetry diplomacy can link our countries and languages in ways that support multiple solutions about how to live, write and produce value for ourselves and others.
