VietJet Air, Qatar Airways Sign Interline Partnership

VietJet has signed an interline partnership with Qatar Airways in an effort to create more options and convenience for passengers.

VietJet made the announcement on October 11, stating that the first phase of the cooperation program began in September, allowing Qatar Airways' passengers to travel to and from locations in Vietnam and Taiwan directly served by VietJet, as reported by Dan Tri.

Phase two of the program will enable VietJet’s passengers to fly to over 150 destinations around the world served by Quatar Airways via a single reservation across the networks of both airlines.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, told Dan Tri: "We are delighted to welcome VietJet to our growing roster of interline partners as they allow us to provide a more seamless experience for our passengers. The new agreement with VietJet will offer our passengers even more choice, providing them an easy connection in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi before transferring to their Qatar Airways flights.”

Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, Deputy Director of VietJet, explained that the new program is an effort by the airline to create more travel opportunities for their customers, adding that her company plans to expand cooperation with other global carriers in the future.

Qatar Airways began flights to Ho Chi Minh City on March 25, 2007. It was the first Persian Gulf-based carrier to offer direct flights to Vietnam’s largest city, before also adding flights to Hanoi in November of 2010, according to Independent Online News.

Currently, VietJet has a fleet of 45 aircraft, conducts 350 flights daily, and has served approximately 40 million passengers.

Qatar Airways currently operates two direct flights between Hanoi and Doha daily, and 10 fights per week between Ho Chi Minh City and Doha.
