"The Background Allstars"
The Background Allstars are not your average background band. Preferring to keep distance from a mainstream tempo, Janel & Julien sway to their own beats which encompass a cluster of colorful rhythms and flows and which stem from their assorted personal tastes and influences; using guitars & loopers.
It was Reggae music that brought the duo together musically in 2011 and, since then, their eclectic musical marriage has seen them form three bands and travel across the country playing at a variety of venues, from beach parties in Mui Ne and Na Trang, to restaurants and private parties in Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City.
Julien's extensive experience as a professional guitarist in Paris gave him inimitable knowledge in various styles and improvisation through working with other wonderful musicians in Reggae, Rock, Flamenco and Funk.
Janel carries a large catalogue of musical knowledge from his days as a guitarist and drummer in various bands in the Philippines and he has since made a big name for himself in Saigon's music scene, starting in 2009 in the popular 'Yoko bar' with his original rock band '6,7,8,9'.
The Background Allstars want to make your night special and be more than a recognizable lounge act. You'll find yourself tapping your feet and nodding your heads to their infectious rhythms and it will be challenging for you not to get up on your feet and sway to their rousing pulse.
