INTRODUCTION

Most of the Vietnamese public know Stephane Gauger from his most recent film "Yeu Di Dung So" but haven't had a chance to see his first film, "Owl and the Sparrow". "Owl and the Sparrow" was a true work of love and passion, a reminder to all young filmmakers that if you have a will to make your film, then you can go out and make it, regardless of money and resources. It was created by a community of filmmakers who have gone on to do many big projects in Vietnam today such as Le Thanh Son, Ham Tran, and Jenni Trang Le. Friends of Stephane felt it was important to share this work with the Vietnamese audience so they could understand Stephane's love for Vietnam. He will be greatly missed but his memories live on in the art he created and the stories and memories he built with his loved ones. May Stephane's independent spirit carry on and continue to inspire.
