BackEvents Near Me » Hanoi – Life In The Arts During The 1990s @ The Factory Contemporary Art Centre

Vietnam, and more specifically Hanoi, went through one of its most transformative phrases during the Đổi Mới/Economic Reform of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

In this context of political, economic and social change, how did artists deal with the subjects, techniques and materials of their works; and how did they live their lives? Listen to the Gang of Five share their thoughts on the highs and lows of their careers at that time, and the memorable moments they experienced between themselves and with colleagues from both North and South Vietnam.

A catalogue of the first rendition of their exhibition ‘Gang of Five Chancing Modern’ (which took place in Hanoi, Oct 2017) will also be launched after the talk.
