Dinh Thuong Tho - then and now, a talk by Phúc Tiến Trần Hữu @ Salon Saigon

Built in the 1860s to serve as the Cochinchina 's Home Office, the Thượng Thơ Palace is today the headquarters of the Department of Information and Communication and Department of Industry and Trade on 59-61 Ly Tu Trong Street, District 1.

This talk will tell us the history of this emblematic building and its compound, with a highlight on its historical and cultural values.

Phúc Tiến Trần Hữu is a Vietnamese City History researcher, born in 1962 in Saigon. 
He worked as a journalist for 16 years at Tuoi Tre, Saigon Time and The Gioi Moi and founded in 2001 “Center point Ltd”, an education and media consultancy firm. He is currently a columnist at Nguoi Do Thi magazine.
His publications include:
“Saigon then and now”, a Vietnamese-English pictorial book which reviews of changes in Saigon’s iconic landscape and architecture between early 20th and 21st century (2017)
“Saigon Not Yesterday”, a compilation of articles on Saigon history, culture and people during the last 30 years (2016)
