The Lover is based on Marguerite Duras's best-selling French novel. The film was made by director Jean - Jacques Annaud. They met at Le Cochinchine, South Vietnam, the former colony of the French national model, the land of Sa Dec, Dong Thap. There was the passionate love story of a white French girl of 15 years and a half, with a rich Chinese landlord family, 20 years older than her, both met on the ferry in colonial Indochina in the 1920s. The character "Lover" has no name, just "him" in the life of a French girl. There is nothing worth around this young French girl to cling to, rely on, believe in, not the future, happy. Until she met him, two people like lost wooden pieces floated on the Mekong River and accidentally bumped into each other.
