Noirfoto would like to invite you to our black and white group photography exhibition which is the result of our first #Noirfotocontest.

As we already shared since the beginning, this fun-contest is to mobilize and to inspire the analogue black and white film photographer community. Modern techniques and social network brought us Instagram, one of the most common platforms to share photos nowadays; the hashtag #noirfotocontest01 being added is all we need to join the contest; everyone could see and vote for their favourite photos easily and quick, convenient and cost-free. That’s how the contest could approach many people.

However, there are much more about black and white film photography. A smartphone screen could be definitely very comfortable to use but should not be the only and/or the last experience for silver gelatine, a medium which is still used by the whole world as a serious art medium, beautiful and sustainable, until this very day. A photo made with film could and should truly be ‘born’, by slowly being formed in the developing tank, under the mystical red light of a darkroom. An analogue printed picture is always full of emotions, carries within itself the value of the medium, the time and the craftsmanship of the printer.

Noirfoto would like to thank all the photographers who still take time, money, and effort to maintain their passion and anyone who still loves the black and white photography. Using our available facilities of photo papers, our darkroom, and our gallery, the 20 prints in our exhibition are our way to express our gratefulness.
