POI is resuming talks for 2021 and it is happening at 4pm on January 9th that is to say this coming Saturday, same usual location “My House”.

The study of the origins, symbolism and colours of the flags of the world is such a thing that there’s even a specific word to describe it – Vexillology. No less, there’s even a flag (shown above) to represent this rare topic of interest.

When Financial Analyst Hoang Bui was a young boy, he became obsessed with learning about the art, design and symbolism of flags. This passion has lasted his whole life and for our first POI talk in 2021, he will share his knowledge and insights.

Why are some countries’ flags so similar to others? And how did giant empires and countries influence the flag design of smaller nations? Is there any significance in the choice of colors across regions?

Hoang will reveal the connection between different countries’ flag designs and their national or regional histories.
