Sounds of Vietnam - Đàn Tranh @ The Old Compass Cafe and Bar

Sounds of Vietnam is a series of performances at The Old Compass Cafe introducing the traditional music of Vietnam.

The instruments, melodies and performance styles of Vietnamese traditional music are a uniquely fascinating and precious part of the culture.

Đàn tranh Việt Nam is a plucked zither developed in Vietnam since the 13th century during the Tran dynasty. Since then, đàn tranh has become one of the most loved and played traditional instruments. For Vietnamese people, the sound of the "đàn tranh" is evocative of the country’s rich culture and tradition.

The series begins on Friday, Jan 29, 2021 and will combine performance with an introduction to the instruments and the music.

We’re very pleased to have Nguyen Hong My Linh sharing her musical skill and performing with Mai Thanh Son and Vu Ngoc Long.

Please join us at the beginning of the New Year in this celebration of traditional music and culture.
