POI Appreciating Cinema : "Brainstorm" @ 1920 Prohibition Bar

As POI spreads its cultural branches, we are excited to announce the launch of our new “Appreciating Cinema” night. Sure, there are movie nights in Saigon. This is not one of them.

POI’s Appreciating Cinema is a chance to see a rare, classic or underrated cinematic masterpiece, with a short presentation after the film and an ambience that will inspire lively cultural and intellectual discussion.

For our inaugural Appreciating Cinema night, POI’s founder Mouss Merouan will present the groundbreaking yet mostly unknown film from 1983, "Brainstorm". Starring a young Christopher Walken and now deceased screen siren Natalie Wood, Brainstorm is a story about the danger of a system that can jump into people’s minds. The 80s, although often ridiculed, were an extremely rich time in film creativity and production. Mouss is excited to share his passion and thoughts on the avant-garde vision personified in this film.

To celebrate the “Seventh Art”, screenings will take place in an intimate cinema-like setting at Saigon’s 1920 Prohibition Bar. RSVPs and a payment of VND 50,000 prior to the event are required as we are sure the event will fill up quickly. Please Direct Message us for details.
We are very much looking forward to seeing you there – drinks and snacks available on the night!
