From the organizer: For the first time, Caravelle Saigon, in conjunction with NewBorns Vietnam, will organise a 24-hour static bike ride to help raise funds for Newborns Vietnam, which will be used to bring UK University and Hospitals specialists to Vietnam train and work with Vietnamese Nurses to drive improvement in survival chances of pre term and sick newborns.
This high-profile event will attract 24 cyclists who are the top management of several prestigious companies, as well as British Consul General, Ian Gibbons who is launching the event and cycling the first hour with Ken Atkinson, Chairman of Newborns Vietnam and the British Business Group in Vietnam. Leading the way for the hotel will be John Gardner, General Manager, and Michael Robinson, Director of Rooms.
Our heroes and heroines will cycle for an hour; their effort will be powering the lights of the Caravelle Saigon sign on Dong Khoi street. Each cyclist is required to maintain an average speed of 15 – 20 km per hour to keep the lights bright.
‘Bright Lights’ target is to raise $10,000. Our cycling are inspired by saving newborn lives and to reward their great effort Moet & Chandon will give a magnum of Champagne hand embossed with the event details to the highest fund raiser with a bottle for the second and third highest.

Bright Lights Event
19th August Bright Lights – welcome drinks 5.30 pm.
British Consul General, Ian Gibbons delivers his opening remarks at 5.40 pm.
Then there will be remarks by Mr Phil MacLaurin, Business Manager, Premier Oil, Chim Sao Oil field companies, and Mr George Williams, Hogan Lovells.
Cycling starts at 6.00 pm with the British Consul General taking the first turn. He must cycle at a minimum of 15 km per hour to keep the sign lit.
The cycling will continue until 6 pm on Saturday 20th August.
Final hour 5.00 – 6.00 pm 20th August - Kim Aron Ly cycles the final hour
6.15 pm the British Consul General, Ian Gibbons will congratulate the cyclists and with Kim Ly and Moet & Chandon award a Magnum of Champagne to the highest fundraiser.
