Tết may be the Vietnam’s most festive holiday, but it’s also the most dangerous if measured by the number of people admitted to the country’s hospitals.

The period between February 15-22 saw nearly 195,000 people admitted to hospitals across Vietnam, mainly for injuries suffered from traffic accidents (35,000), brawls (5,000) and food poisoning (1,500), reports Thanh Nien, citing information from the Ministry of Health.
Aside from injuries, there have been a number of fatalities across these categories with at least 246 road deaths and 5 from food poising over the same time period. While the Ministry didn’t reveal the total number of brawl-related deaths, it said that on one day during the holiday, 11 people died due to violent quarrels.
