One of the main conduits for the illegal cigarettes is the Cambodian border where an “army” of smugglers have emerged to cash in on the lucrative trade.

According to Thanh Nien, over a billion packs of cigarettes are smuggled into Vietnam annually, causing scenes like this in Dong Thap’s Tam Nong District:
