[Video] This Cinemagraph Celebrates Hanoi's Endearing Dawn Aerobics

Every single morning, at sunrise, hundreds of Hanoians descend on Hoan Kiem Lake to practice tai chi, aerobics and laughter yoga, or enjoy a morning stroll to ease the aches from their bones.

These endearing scenes are brought into focus by Vimeo user and Saigon-based photographer Morgan Ommer, who uses a cinemagraph to highlight the movements of individual dancers while freezing all others around them.

By concentrating on what is usually a synchronized group activity but only displaying the moves of solitary dancers, Ommer alters the context completely, and the resulting effect feels reminiscent of the charming video Khruangbin commissioned for their song 'Evan Finds the Third Room.'

It’s just one minute long and soundtracked by the nhạc vàng classic ‘Bừng Sáng (Dawn)’ by Thai Thanh. While the song would be more fitting for a southern setting, it nonetheless adds to the appeal.
