Vast spread of sound to whet all tastes on this night. Head honcho of a world-renowned Japanese label - Toshiya Kawasaki is on a world tour to celebrate 15 years of Mule Musiq, an imprint that has had its records played on the finest dance floors of the planet and counts greats such as Oskar Offermann, Dj Sprinkles and many more among its continual collaborators.

As can be expected from a boss of such a label, Kawasaki is continuously exposed to a lot of good, original electronic music. That being said, he’s also a highly capable DJ that has his own very distinct approach, and is not afraid to veer away from the type of sound his label has become known for. His sets frequently take in all kinds of strange, dark and wavy sounds from the underworld or ethereal disco and Afro movements from across time and space.

He’ll be joined by digger extraordinaire DJ Okapi bringing the rare South African ‘Bubblegum’ and ‘kwaito’ sound from the 80s and 90s, combined with a disco-funk sensibility that is simply sure-fire sub-tropical party material. DJ Okapi gained international recognition for his Afro Synth blog that unearthed rare Southern African sounds, and he’s gone on to put together compilations for the likes of Soundway and Rush Hour, and is considered a master of African electronic sound.

Last but not least, Obs’ residents Kin and Datodeo will also be on hand to tie it all together with their own approaches to Afro, disco, house and techno.
