PROGRAMME

Serenade No.13 in G Major, K525 (Eine kleine Nachmusik)

Written in 1787, this is one of Mozart’s most popular works and familiar classical music pieces. This piece, whose German name means “A little night music”, has been widely performed, from street corners to high quality performances.

Serenade for Strings in E Major, Op.22:

Dvořák wrote this charming and joyful serenade in just 12 days in 1875, the work was infused with the profound happiness and optimism pervading his life at the time. Each of the movements has a unique character, lilting, playful, passionate, lyrical, elegant and lively. This piece remains one of the composer's more popular orchestral works to this day.

ABOUT CHIEF CONDUCTOR FAN TING

One of the legendary violinists of Hong Kong, Fan graduated from Curtis Institute of Music & Julliard School - the world's leading music academies for classical genre. As a conductor, Fan founded and acted as the first Music Director of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, a renowned youth orchestra in Asia. Recently, he has also been appointed Board Director and Chief Conductor of the Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra of Vietnam. Moreover, he is the founding faculty of the Orchestral Technique Class at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
