The draft decree that covers these waivers is currently being completed, but not fast enough for Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh who has requested that it be fast-tracked, reports Tuoi Tre.

If approved, overseas Vietnamese, their spouses and children would no longer need to apply for a visa to enter Vietnam.

Those seeking to take advantage of the new policy would have to present papers proving they are Vietnamese living in another country.

Finally, spouses of Vietnamese nationals would also be eligible for the waivers that would presumable override visa exemptions that are currently in place.
