[Photos] The White Prince Of Saigon

No one loves white more than this Saigon man.

Smitten with the color white since age 10, Phạm Đình Hiền’s love for it has only grown over time. Now, at 63, he worships white to the point where nearly all his belongings are coated in the color.

Featured in one of Humans of New York’s pictures a few weeks ago, an image of Hiền, dressed in a funky white suit atop his white motorbike has gone viral.

Making his living as a xe ôm, Hiền is well known amongst Saigon residents for his white attire, earning him the nickname “the white prince.”

In addition to displaying his love for white, he spends his hard-earned cash to bring building guards and street vendors free meals, in white bags no less.

However, the white prince doesn’t live a regal life, sharing a 10sqm (and white wallpapered) home in a dark District 1 alleyway. Even so, he manages to bring some light to the people of Saigon.
