What happens when the harsh realities of the adult world impinge on childhood?

Nguyễn Nhật Ánh's recent novel, Thiên thần nhỏ của tôi (My Little Angel) tells the story of two children, Hồng Hoa and Kha, who enjoy the imaginative splendors of a backyard garden together. The blissful innonence of childhood can only last so long, however, as an accident reveals differences between their families and backgrounds.

Beloved Vietnamese filmmaker Việt Linh adapted the script for a play at the Youth Culture House on May 23. Young and old audiences alike will be moved to tears by the heartbreaking tale of young love, family strife and dissalusionment with the cruelities of growing up.

The play features English subtitles, making it a great opportunity for non-Vietnamese to enjoy a local play that brings together one of the nation's most acclaimed authors and one of its most respect filmmakers.
