Back Events Near Me » LGBT Pride Month: Film Screening “Milk” & the History of LGBT Pride @ The American Center

Come join the screening of “Milk.” “Milk” tells the story of one of the first openly gay politicians elected into office in the U.S., Harvey Milk. The film highlights the importance of visibility for LGBT people, and tells a tragic but hopeful story about how American public opinion toward the LGBT community began to shift after LGBT people began to come out and gain visibility in American society. After the screening, there will be an open discussion about how this history has affected modern LGBT civil rights struggles and the role of LGBT Pride in the U.S. and in Vietnam today.
