Perhaps in an effort to balance its more serious content, American publication Business Insider has taken to producing Buzzfeed-style lists (yes, we’re all guilty of this). Stemming from a Quora thread in which users singled out the most iconic foods from their countries, the online magazine ran with the topic and created their own list called “The best thing to eat in 50 countries around the world”.

While 'best' is, of course, a totally subjective term - perhaps 'iconic' would have worked a bit better - the magazine played it safe and singled out phở as Vietnam’s most significant gastronomic contribution.
It may not be surprising that phở made Business Insider’s list, given that it made its way into the Merriam-Webster Dictionary last year, but there are plenty of other - and arguably more deserving - contenders for the top spot in Vietnamese cuisine.
Either way, it’s fun to watch it being made:
