iSabado Gigante! @ Caravelle Saigon

This Saturday Dec.8 sees Caravelle Saigon’s Reflections Restaurant transform into a little piece of Mexico.

In collaboration with French Tart Saigon, we’ll be presenting Saigon’s newest pop-up concept with a Mexican-style brunch from 11am until 2.30pm, including live entertainment and fun, family-friendly activities for everyone.

This Mexican-style pop-up cantina promises to set off a fiesta for the senses with a “guacamole bar”, carving station, table service and a dessert station. You’ll also be kept nicely hydrated with plenty of drinks, including cocktails and shots from our friends at Jose Cuervo!

On the main menu will be aguachile, a dish traditionally made of shrimp submerged in a mixture of chili peppers, lime juice, salt, onion and coriander, however, ours will include sea bass and octopus as well as shrimp.

Of course it wouldn’t be Mexican without tacos, so there’ll be a selection of chicken, fish and pumpkin flour and cheese tacos, along with chorizo, beans and roasted herbed tomatoes, “home fries” made from roasted potatoes, peppers and onions, and a tasty baked cauliflower with cauliflower puree and sautéed greens.

At the carving station you’ll be able to load up on Mexican-style pork loin, then head on over to the guacamole station for some sides that include cheese crumbles, garlic chips, crispy bacon, pico de gallo and salsas, crab salad, and pickled prawns and more.

In between spicy mouthfuls you’ll be able to knock back a selection of oyster shooters, Bloody Marys or down a choice of eight different Margaritas to soothe your burning throat, or instead try a selection of signature cocktails whipped up for you with Jose Cuervo tequila mixed with fresh ingredients.

On the cocktail menu, highlights include the Freysas Y Suenos, a frozen cocktail with Jose Cuervo Gold, strawberry, coconut and vanilla, the Saigon Me Recoge featuring Vietnamese coffee, Jose Cuervo Silver, vanilla and egg yolk, the fizzy Angel Blanco mixed with Jose Cuervo Silver, cucumber water, Phu Quoc pepper and citrus, and the Pina De Casa concocted with 1880 Gold, grilled pineapple, cardamon, egg white and citrus.

If you’re still standing after all that, the dessert (not desert!) station and churros machine should stuff you as full as a pinata with choices that include a Vietnamese coffee rocky road, rum and raisin, chocolate chili, and honeycomb.

So there you have it. This Saturday is going to be gigante! You’d be a donkey to miss it!

Price per person is VND1,700,000++.
