International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) is hosting a presentation by guest speaker Mr. Jamie Andrew at their state-of-the-art Secondary campus in the full production theater on Wednesday 10th April starting at 6:30pm.
Jamie is from the United Kingdom and visits schools around the world delivering motivational talks to students and parents who can learn from his experiences.
In 1999, Jamie Andrew was involved in an unfortunate mountaineering accident in the French Alps where his hands and feet where amputated due to frostbite. Rather than being defeated by this tragedy, Jamie took it as a spur to make the most of the second chance that he was granted. Not only has he learned to walk again, and rebuilt his everyday life; he has also learned to ski, snowboard, sail, run marathons, iron man triathlons, and of course returned to climb once more in the mountains that he loves so much.
"I talk to all ages, from older primary school children upwards and I have found that senior pupils, who are going through exams etc. are particularly able to draw parallels with their own situations. If I have one goal in my talks, it’s that audiences should go away, and not so much think about my story, but think about their own stories and the direction their lives are taking."
This is a free event that is open to all the community to be inspired by Jamie and how he overcame the challenges and adversities he faced. There are limited places available so please contact ISHCMC to reserve your place by e-mailing info@ishcmc.edu.vn or phoning +84 (28) 3898 9100.
