PROGRAM: Exploring with "Ông Huyện" 04 | Gia Định - Saigon 19.07.2026

1. Field Study Area: Beside the bustling urban center of Saigon - Chợ Lớn, there is still an old Gia Định that has quietly endured through countless changes. It is the land to the north and west of the city, where every brick and roof tile of its historical sites preserves the pride and cultural depth of the Vietnamese people across centuries. Let Ông Huyện be your guide as you unlock centuries-old stories and connect with the soul of old Gia Định.
   Location: The former districts of District 11, Gò Vấp, Phú Nhuận, and Tân Phú, now the wards of Hạnh Thông, Thông Tây Hội, Đức Nhuận, and Phú Thọ Hòa.
2. Time: 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Saturday, 19.07.2026. Pickup at Bến Thành Market.
3. Planned field study locations (there may be more or fewer depending on time and on-site conditions):
   
   7:00AM: Gather at the meeting point at the West Gate of Bến Thành Market.
   7:30AM: Depart by vehicle to Hạnh Thông Ward.
   8:00AM: Breakfast at Cơm tấm Tài / Xíu mại chén Đà Lạt - Cô Tám.
   9:00AM – 10:30AM: Arrive at the Gò Vấp Market area and walk to visit historical sites: Sắc Tứ Long Huê Pagoda (a more than 200-year-old ancient pagoda preserving many remarkable artifacts), Thất Phủ Thiên Hậu Temple of the Chinese community settled in Gò Vấp, Quần Tân Assembly Hall of the Hakka Chinese community in Gò Vấp, Trương Gia Từ Temple, the ancient tombs of the Trương Minh Giảng family, and many other historical sites hidden throughout the alleyways.
   10:30AM: Travel to Thông Tây Hội Ward and visit Thông Tây Hội Communal House.
   11:30AM: Lunch at A Cón Braised Duck Noodle Restaurant.
   1:00PM: Travel to Đức Nhuận Ward and visit the Võ Tánh Mausoleum.
   2:00PM – 3:00PM: Travel to Phú Thọ Hòa Ward and visit ancient tombs, including the tomb of Lý Tường Quang (Bá hộ Xường) and Nguyễn Thị Lâu, the Lý family tomb complex, the tomb of Nguyễn Quý Anh and Lý Thu Liên, and others.
   3:30PM: Travel to Bình Thới Ward and visit Giác Viên Pagoda, recently restored, to admire its wooden sculptures.
   4:15PM: Return to Saigon and enjoy an afternoon snack at Cai Lậy Duck Noodle Soup / Dìn Ký Fried Rice Cake.

Exploring with "Ông Huyện" is an 8–10 hour spontaneous journey to a location within Ho Chi Minh City or within an 80 km radius of the city center.

The trip is designed as an in-depth field study, allowing participants to explore each destination in detail. The field study area will be announced one month in advance. These locations or destinations have never appeared in Echoing Trip / Echoing Journey. The trip is guided by the leader's extensive fieldwork experience and solid academic knowledge. Dining venues are also carefully selected based on experience and recommendations from local residents.

The trip will only take place with a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 5 participants. The participation fee is 1,500,000 VND per person, including transportation by 7-seat vehicle, materials, audio receiver, guide, breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, coffee, and drinking water.
