Chợ Lớn, a city that developed alongside Saigon, has been home to generations of Chinese communities for over 300 years.

Cholon by Side is a 6-hour field study course exploring the outskirts of old Chợ Lớn. Through decades of urbanization, this area has become part of today's city: District 11. Once a landscape of rice fields and low-lying wetlands, it has transformed into an urban neighborhood where a large Chinese community continues to preserve its religious beliefs, daily life, and culinary traditions.

Time: 8:00AM - 1:30PM, Sunday, 23.08.2026
Location: Minh Phụng Ward, HCMC.

Program fee: 750,000 VND, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, coffee, bottled water, and admission to the special welcome program featuring a lion dance performance by Thắng Nghĩa Tổ Quán - Thắng Nghĩa Đường.

Itinerary - Places to visit and learn about: Chợ Thiếc, Trần Quý Street: Hòa Ký Bakery, a hủ tiếu noodle production workshop, Nguyễn Thị Nhỏ Street - the former Vòng Thành Canal, Khánh Vân Nam Viện (a Taoist temple with origins in the Quanzhen School), Thắng Nghĩa Tổ Quán, Dương Thành Quán.

Program requirements: Minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 15 participants.

Refund policy:

• If the program does not take place: 100% refund.
• Cancellation more than 48 hours in advance: 100% refund.
• Cancellation 24-48 hours in advance: 50% refund.
• All other cases: No refund.

Children's policy:

• Children under 10 years old accompanied by a parent: 50% of the adult fee.
• Children aged 10 to under 16: 75% of the adult fee.
• Ages 16 and above: Full adult fee.
