The lives and work of Vietnamese health professionals in Japan were recently highlighted in a video feature from the Japanese government.
The short clip, titled Friends of Japan: Vietnamese Hard at Work in Japan, was uploaded on the YouTube account of the Prime Minister's Office of Japan, showcasing the personal journey of three young Vietnamese who have built a career helping local senior citizens.
Le Van Nam, Le Thi Thuy and Nam Nguyen Son Ha all hail from northern Vietnam and currently work at the Satsuki-kai welfare group in Chiba Prefecture, according to the video’s description.
Yozo Yada, president of the center, shares in the video that he has been working with Vietnamese employees for 20 years.
“I’ve come to believe that culturally, people from Japan and Vietnam are not so far apart,” Yada says in voiceover. He adds that Satsuki-kai also has staff from Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
