Food porn addicts rejoice! Street Food, a documentary series focusing on Asia's vibrant pavement cuisine is set to titillate this month on Netflix.
Similar to Netflix's highly acclaimed Chef's Table, it will tell “the stories of perseverance and culture that bring life to each country’s cuisine,” according to David Gelb, who created Chef's Table and is one of the executive producers of Street Food, along with his frequent collaborators Brian McGinn, Andrew Fried, and Dane Lillegard.
While one can expect many of the featured restaurants and chefs to be unknown locals — from Thailand, India, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam — viewers may recognize the familiar face of Bangkok chef Jay Fai who was award a Michelin Star last year for her food stall.
The Vietnamese episode was filmed in Saigon and will focus on Truoc, a snails vendor, and Anh Manh, a phở chef. Other than the two, the episode will also highlight the city's population of bánh mì and cơm tấm makers, according to Eater.
All nine episodes of Street Food will be available for streaming on Netflix on April 26. While waiting for the release, check out the trailer below:
