While Saigon’s massive underground parking lots may be indefinitely delayed, the city’s first multi-story parking lot has opened in District 1 at a price tag of $24 million, according to VietNamNet.
The 10 story, 32,000 square meter structure at 326 Vo Van Kiet includes 9 floors of parking which can accommodate 1,000 cars and 800 motorcycles. The ground floor will offer maintenance and carwash services.
And the most exciting part of the project - car elevators(!) - 5 of which will shuttle cars between the structure’s upper floors. Oh, and there will be 3 elevators for humans as well.
Samco, the lot’s operator, announced that monthly parking fees for cars will be VND2 million (VND20,000/hour) while daily motorbike fees will be VND4,000-5,000.
Shuttle service will be offered from the parking lot to the city center where parking spaces are at a premium:
“According to the HCMC Department of Construction, of the 79 tall buildings in downtown HCM City, only 14 have enough room for all the vehicles, 59 lack sufficient space for parking and 6 have no parking area whatsoever,” reported VietNamNet.
