There is more sad news for Saigon's nightlife scene - the legendary La Fenetre Soleil - a place that has hosted so many special events, parties and memories over the years - is closing at the end of the month.
But that's not going to happen without one big last bang of an Observatory dance party:
We’re very excited to announce the return of Phuong-Dan, a figure who is at the forefront of the current transformation of what dance music means and can be.
Phuong-Dan’s vast repertoire of sound has been honed over years of experience digging and playing at the infamous Golden Pudel in his native Hamburg, as well as through playing for some of the most coveted dance floors on the planet.
A recurrent presence on the lineups of De School in Amsterdam and Dekmantel Festival, Phuong-Dan is a DJ’s DJ par excellence - a true selector that is able to weave hugely divergent influences into a distinct, magnetic mosaic of sound.
This gig both is and isn’t a type of return for him to The Observatory. In early 2017 we had to move the party he was playing from our old building to another venue at the last minute, without our sound system.
Joining him will be another figure of Golden Pudel - big time digger of wide-ranging eclectic, unique and obscure sound - Tussn - as well as The Observatory’s founder and resident Hibiya Line.
The location of this event will be announced closer to the date, but you can be sure it’s going to pop.
