Perinthia 25 mins
Sandrine Llouquet, Nguyen Minh Tam, Zach Schreier
The title Perinthia was inspired by Italo Calvino’s fictional city of the same name, built to reflect the benevolence of heaven but which instead gave birth to monsters. In Perinthia, visual artist Sandrine Llouquet and dancer Nguyen Minh Tam re-interpret the cycle of human life through the images of a weary camel, a robust lion, and a carefree child.
Nhà/La Maison 30 mins
Sébastien Ly, Trong Gia Nguyen, Lisa Robert, Lê Mai Anh
Nhà/La Maison explores the relationship between rigid urbanity and the organic body’s place within it. How do they shape one another? Can both bend the will of each another in order to find a middle ground that we might call a sense of spiritual harmony, an inward home? The artistic collaboration between Sebastien Ly and Trong Gia Nguyen looks to find disquieting equilibrium while unnerving “the correspondence of senses” that connects architectural line and corporeal movement. The now is here. And, if home is where the heart is, then there must be a beating of drums.
Invisible Flow 40 mins
Huu Thuan Nguyen, Chung Nguyen, Sto Len
Invisible Flow comprises of a dance performance by dancers Huu Thuan Nguyen and Thanh Chung Nguyen juxtaposed against an experimental music performance by Sto Len. Both performances happen simultaneously in different parts of a venue, which let the audience create their own unique sensory experience by choosing which to see first. Both pieces document the artists’ quest for peace in the hustle and bustle of Saigon.
Kaleidoscope 30 mins
Kim-Sanh Châu, Hong Nhung Vo, Xuyen Nhu Do
Leaning between dance and installation, Kaleidoscope is a colorful sensorial journey where bodies unravel sub- conscious and fleeting dreams. With this new creation, Kim-Sanh Châu realizes and invites us into her synesthetic realm of colors, music and emotions. Kaleidoscope is pale pink and violet, touched with Persian blue and gold. Bodies duplicate infinitely, then disappear.
