For many centuries, light has played an important role in the creation, design, display and function of both the visual arts and architecture.
From the ancient Greek temples to the Renaissance churches, in early human dwellings all the way to public spaces in this digital age, light remains both a medium and an undeniable source of inspiration. In this talk by Dr. Trần Văn Thành (of ASA Studios Lighting Design – www.asastudios.com), we will see how creations ‘Made of Light’ reflect the necessity of light in the practice of key master artists and architects. Furthermore, this is also a rare opportunity to hear more about current trends and emerging development in the art of lighting design in Vietnam.
Dr. Trần Văn Thành is considered Vietnam’s pioneering professional lighting designer, founder and director of ASA Studios Lighting Design, a leader in its field, well-known for their creative work for the Dragon Bridge (Danang) which won the prestigious IALD Lighting Design Award in 2012.
The talk will take place in Vietnamese with English translation.
