*Salon Saigon and the French Institute in Vietnam are pleased to present ‘Cinema for the ears’ – a live performance combining electro-acoustic music by composer and musician Juan Aramburu and excerpts from the documentary "And there the work was" by film-maker Tuong Vi Nguyen Long.


The documentary “And there the work was” by Tuong Vi Nguyen Long is a film about the digital revolution in the working environment. To make this film, she penetrated in a Vietnamese company with more than 200 employees managing the business together through new communication tools. In September 2019, Juan Aramburu is joining Tuong Vi in her residency in Saigon to write music for the film by exploring the sound identity of Vietnam. The work includes recording sounds in different parts of the city, voice recordings and traditional instruments, then creating soundtracks from these materials.



The performance of two artists at Salon Saigon this time is a dialogue between music, sounds and images, expanding beyond the confines of the film in which they are working together, reflects and questions about a hyper-connected society. The audience will be able to watch Tuong Vi's film excerpts and electro-acoustic music composed by Juan using his music equipments, in addition to the artists’ sharing their creative journey.
