The Factory is pleased to present to you Dr Trần Văn Thành with his talk 'In Praise of Shadows' about the power of shadow in design and architecture.
‘Shadow’ has been a source of inspiration for many different types of art. In architecture, shadow and darkness are crucial elements creating space. Borrowing the theme ‘In praise of shadows‘ – a popular essay on Japanese aesthetics by the Japanese author and novelist Jun’ichirō Tanizaki – this talk will explore how ideas and stories of shadows and darkness have been of inspiration to designers, particularly within architecture.
*This talk will be in Vietnamese with English translation.
