Traveling through Saigon and looking for a fun night out in the heart of D1? Or a local in need of a good laugh?
Join us at the Hop Shop, just a 5 minute walk from Ben Thanh market, to see some of the finest comics in Saigon from Vietnam and around the world.
Host, Niall Mackay of Seven Million Bikes; A Saigon Podcast presents four of Saigon's top comics for the first ever show at the Hop Shop!
Niall Mackay has lived in Saigon, Vietnam for 3 years and elsewhere around the world before. Inspired by his comedic hero, Billy Connolly, Niall started in comedy just over a year ago, performing regularly in Vietnam and recently for the first time in his homeland of Scotland. He'll make you laugh at being a Scotsman abroad, life in Vietnam and anything else in between.
JK Hobson (USA)
JK Hobson performed his first standup set in Los Angeles in 2013. He moved to Sài Gòn in 2016. Since then, he’s opened for international standup comedians: Lars Callieou, Garrett Millerick, Corey Marx, and Mark Lucas and has guest-hosted VTV4’s Vietnam Discovery. Sometimes political, sometimes irreverent, he's performed in Thailand and Vietnam and was a finalist in the 2018 Vietnam Comedy Competition. JK was also the very first guest on the podcast “Seven Million Bikes: The Saigon Podcast” and is a co-founder of comedy collective Saigon Funny People.
Angee the Diva (USA) is an American comedian based in Saigon, Vietnam. She was a 2019 finalist in the Vietnam Comedy Competition and has been a headliner traveling around Vietnam and South East Asia since 2017. This mother of two, writer, event planner, and queen bee will leave you in stitches with her raunchy yet relatable comedic stories!
Vu Minh Tu (VN)
Hanoi-born, Saigon-based Tu is a comedy force to be reckoned with. An established performer on the Vietnam circuit, her style can be described as like any stereotypical Asian female: passive aggressive. Tu's hilarious jokes at shows across the region have seen her collect numerous awards including first place in the Roosters Beer Comedy Competition in Saigon, as well as the usual free beers and rounds of applause. Her family doesn't think she is funny, which is why they are never invited to shows. Don't be like her family. Tu will make you laugh so much your cheeks hurt (less so if your botox injection is still fresh).
Devin Gray (RSA)
Born and Fled South African Comedian Devin Gray is one of the top rising stars in comedy. With appearances on Comedy Central, International Festivals and pretty much any local bar with a stool and a microphone Devin is sure to set the pace for a whirlwind of hilarity.
