VEX Robotics Competition @ Saigon South International School

On Saturday, January 18, 2020, Saigon South International School (SSIS) will host the first-ever VEX Robotics Competition in Vietnam

The VEX Robotics Competition, founded in the United States in 2006, has since spread to over 40 countries. The competition at SSIS on January 18, will be the first VEX Robotics Competition tournament to be held in Vietnam.

“As a leading institution in education for the future, SSIS places great value on robotics, coding, and computer science. We are thrilled to be hosting the first-ever VEX Robotics competition in Vietnam”, says Head of School, Dr. Catriona Moran.

Eight teams from four international schools in Vietnam - the International School of Ho Chi Minh City, International School of Ho Chi Minh City American Academy, Concordia International School Hanoi, and Saigon South International School, will be competing for a chance to attend the VEX Robotics World Championship, the largest and most prestigious robotics competition in the world, held in Louisville, Kentucky (USA) in April 2020.

After qualifying rounds, the top four teams choose alliance partners. Pairing up the robots they’ve designed for the VEX Robotics Competition game, “Tower Takeover,” the alliances compete in two-minute matches in which, for the first fifteen seconds, the robots must successfully drive autonomously, stacking colored cubes in goal zones.
