HCMC, May 20th 2023 - This is the second time, the approximately 130-year-old house at no. 29-31 Ton That Thiep, Ho Chi Minh City is pleased to open and welcome the art-lovers to come and enjoy
the 4th solo exhibition of artist Pham Thanh Toan.

However, this is the first time the city has had an opportunity to enjoy and contemplate the concept of "another space" between art and antiquearchitecture.

The exhibition will be publicly open from May 21 to 28, 2023 on the 1st floor of the nineteenth-century colonial architecture which was treated as the guest house of the Hindu Sri Thendayuthapani temple located opposite in the past.

KHÔNG GIAN KHÁC – A fictional world of colors and fantasy characters.

What awaits humans after the pinnacle of civilization?

Pham Thanh Toan named KHÔNG GIAN KHÁC (Another World) for this 4th solo exhibition organized by himself.

It reflects a young artist's imagination about a fictional triangle that shapes human society: spirituality, love, and social influences... Balanced but sharp and signaling danger.

This is also the backbone for Pham Thanh Toan's development of his artworks in recent years. Each collection of Toan is almost a few artworks.

But it's the huge scenes on extreme dimensions. His characters are not only people, objects in this world, or gods, creatures from the Bible, myths, epics, fairy tales, movies, but also objects not in this world.

Their stories are very close to Vietnamese life & culture. However, KHÔNG GIAN KHÁC is not related to reflecting reality socially. It expresses another world to the world we are living in.
 
It is an imagined happy world formed from the artist's obsession with yin-yang, life-death -reincarnation, the desire for freedom, the game of thrones, and marriage.

The happy world of a boy who has compassion, and nostalgic memories of the past quintessence, especially a very free and happy mind.

Therefore, although overwhelmed, Toan's paintings are not difficult to understand.

and 1 sculpture.
