Domestic intrigue is set against a backdrop of rising and falling fortunes, international adventure and political intrigue in famed writer Honoré de Balzac's masterpiece "Eugénie Grandet."

The play focuses on the secret plots, aspirations and luck that befalls a small community in rural Europe. Fates intertwine and secrets emerge as characters aim to improve their lives, sometimes at the expense of one another.

Every December is a happy month for Hồng Hạc Theater as it's the birthday month of its founder, director Việt Linh. In honor of the birthday and 50 years of normalized relations between France and Vietnam, the theatre is presenting three works based on literature: Demon's Hour (December 5), Everything We Haven't Said (December 12), and Eugénie Grandet (December 27). All productions are in Vietnamese with English subtitles.
