"Memories of the Past" - An Exploration of Lives Lived
"A moment lasts all of a second, but the memory lives on forever."
Lori Robinson Memories, whether sorrowful or joyful, linger in our lives. Our shared human experience is sometimes luckily preserved by talented composers through timeless melodies. Join us at the "Memories of the Past" concert, where you will be transported through deep realms of memory, recreated via some of the most beautiful music from renowned composers and artists. These are works of recollection, of gladness or solemnity in their lives, which are lived and then recorded for our joined experience.
The journey begins with Rachmaninoff's Trio elegiaque No. 1 in G minor, a work of hushed melancholy. Listeners will then be invited to share in the memories tied to the Stradivarius violin and the legacy of a great Puerto Rican musical family in Leshnoff's Concertante for 2 Violins and Piano. The program next transitions to childhood reminiscences and youthful romances in Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49, and concludes with Tomaso Albinoni’s Adagio in G minor – a precious gem found in the ashes of war.
Each piece in this program is a fragment of memory from both beautiful and sorrowful moments, an adventure of the soul, and a pause in the flow of time to savor and record those precious moments.
The "Memories of the Past" concert features performances by renowned artists: Chuong Vu (violin), NSUT Tang Thanh Nam (violin), NSND Ngo Hoang Quan (cello), NSUT Nguyen Tan Anh (cello), Nguyen Thuy Yen (piano), Ju Sun Young (piano), and the young artist Vu Minh Duy (piano). This event is part of the “A Master Series Concert” project, organized by Saigon Classical in collaboration with the Vietnam Connection Music Festival, with support from Artiste School, Morico and MaWa House.
