XINE XEM FEST 2024 - 2025

Xine Xem Fest is an annual film festival celebrating unique voices and bringing a diverse range of short films closer to audiences. With open pitching sessions, networking activities, and career development opportunities, XXF provides a platform for young filmmakers to present their artistic visions while highlighting the power of visual storytelling.

Returning with the theme "Vietnamese New Wave", Xine Xem Fest 2024 (XXF24) is a unique artistic playground for young filmmakers.

The festival celebrates independent talent and the creative stories of Vietnam's new generation of filmmakers.

XXF24 will take place over three days, from January 17 to 19, 2025, at Dcine Ben Thanh, Soma Saigon, and CGV Thao Đien.

Badge for all activities (except the awards ceremony): 53,000 VND/badge

Badges can be collected at the check-in area of the activities.

Program Highlights

Young Talent Showcase:

XXF24 gathers and honors outstanding short films from young filmmakers. This year, the short films are divided into three categories:

• Competition: Highlights from the Xine Xem Shorts 2024 program.
• Non-Competition: Works by young directors with notable achievements, previously recognized at international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, etc.
• Staff Picks: Creative and promising stories chosen by the organizing committee.

Project Market:

The top six outstanding short film projects, selected from over 45 potential projects, will be presented to a jury, including:

• Nhi Bui: Screenwriter and producer of "Goodbye Mother," "Dad, I'm Sorry."
• Mai Ka: Independent producer of beloved films like "Goodbye Mother," "Rain on Butterfly Wings."
• Dam Quang Trung: An award-winning talented director.

Special Activities:

• Opening Night: An intimate opening night at Soma Saigon, gathering artists, filmmakers, and cinema enthusiasts.
• Discussion Panels: Two panels on the potential of Vietnam’s new cinematic wave, featuring guests such as journalists Le Hong Lam and Nguyen Khac Ngan Vi, and director Phan Dang Di.
• Gala Night: A gala honoring the year's outstanding talents and connecting the filmmaking community.

Theme: Vietnamese New Wave

The central theme of Xine Xem Fest 2024 revolves around the question: "Has Vietnam's new wave of cinema arrived?"

With groundbreaking and innovative works, we hope to spark discussions about the position of Vietnamese short films on the global cinematic map.

Spreading the Passion for Cinema

The cost of 53,000 VND per badge is the minimum needed to ensure the full success of XXF24. This amount supports:

• Transportation and logistics.
• F&B for over 20 organizing volunteers.
• DCP screenings at cinemas.
• Awards for young filmmakers.

If you wish to contribute more, all additional funds will be allocated to Xine House's activity fund to support 2025 programs such as:

• Sunday Talk: A dialogue space about cinema.
• Xine Xem Shorts: A platform connecting and showcasing short films.
• Xine Grant: Financial support for young filmmakers.
