Official introduction to the showcase “Pocket Me: When You Meet Your Smaller Self”.

Dear friends, it has been three years since Pocket Me Library was born, accompanied by the passionate support of artist friends from many different creative fields within the community. Throughout this journey, we have shared many memorable encounters, coming together through toy art experiences that connect people. Yet there has always been one story we saved for today, on this very special anniversary: the story of our project from its earliest days, and also the story of a Pocket Me that you may not have known about over the past three years.

Told in a simple and sincere way, “Pocket Me” is a meeting and a multi-material art experience that explores the journey of encountering one’s smaller self. It recreates a dream toy library room for children who never really grow up, which is also how the name Pocket Me Library came to be.

With the theme “When You Meet Your Smaller Self,” “Pocket Me” will take place over two days, from December 20 to 21, featuring a range of diverse and new experiences:

1. A display of the initial concept, including logo sketches and two representative characters of Pocket Me Library by illustrator Xuan Nguyen.
2. An exhibition of 10 artworks from the short picture book “Dear Me,” created for the PERSONA 2023 exhibition by illustrator Tinh Anh Huynh.
3. A showcase of handcrafted works and toys by 10 multidisciplinary visual artists.
4. An intimate talk show with artists and guest speakers on the theme “When You Meet Your Smaller Self,” taking place at 10:00 AM on December 20.
5. A display of images from four events across three years of Pocket Me Library’s journey (2022–2024), along with 10 interviews with artists who have accompanied the project.
6. An exhibition of two art toy works, “Mind House” and “A Rainless Day,” by artist Weirdo Potato, which were gifted to the Pocket Me Library project.

Along with many poems, images, and other lovely art toy works on display at the “Pocket Me” showcase.

Dear friends, “Pocket Me” for us has always been a daily journey of meeting our smaller selves. We are ready and excited to welcome you.
