ECHOING TRIP TG04 | QUA MIỀN GIÁO ĐƯỜNG (THROUGH THE LAND OF CHURCHES) 17.05

QUA MIỀN GIÁO ĐƯỜNG is a 3km walking trip exploring long-established Catholic areas along both banks of the Thị Nghè canal.

Look out to Bà Nghè canal, the pale white flow spreads gently like silk Look up to Ông Tố ridge, green trees densely layered in indigo leaves.

Thị Nghè - from a natural canal, was named and became a long-standing settlement of old Gia Định. The old neighborhood-market carries strong riverine culture, combining both waterway and land trade, and serving as a connection between Saigon and Gia Định.

On the left bank of the canal, Thị Nghè is also one of the earliest parishes of the Western Cochinchina Diocese (1790), preserving traces of many missionaries and Catholic martyrs. On the other side, not far from the right bank, lies a large Catholic area with many important institutions: the Convent of the Sisters of Saint Paul of Chartres, Saint Joseph Seminary, the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Saigon, Carmelite Monastery... These two Catholic regions carry historical narratives of faith, devotion, and distinctive Catholic architecture and art.

Time: 7:45AM - 1:30PM, Sunday, 17.05.2026.
Location: Saigon Ward, Thạnh Mỹ Tây Ward.
Cost: 750,000VND, including coffee, breakfast, lunch, offerings, electric vehicle/Grab transport during the trip, guide, and materials.

Main objectives:

• Explore the history of Catholicism in Saigon - Gia Định and understand the meaning of religious symbols in Catholic churches through visits to Carmelite Monastery Chapel, the Archdiocese Pastoral Center, Saint Joseph Seminary, the Saint Paul Order Traditional House, Thị Nghè Parish Church / Mông Triệu Parish Church.
• Trace the history of Thị Nghè settlement - Thị Nghè Market and related landmarks.

Itinerary:

Parking at Metro Nguyễn Siêu parking lot --> Breakfast at SGC --> Coffee --> Carmelite Monastery Chapel --> Saint Joseph Seminary, Archdiocese of Saigon --> Convent of the Sisters of Saint Paul --> Trưng Vương School / Võ Trường Toản School --> Thị Nghè Parish Church / Mông Triệu Parish Church --> Lunch at Ngôi Sao Grilled Chicken Restaurant.

Refund policy:

• If the program does not take place: 100% refund.
• Cancellation before 48 hours: 100% refund.
• Cancellation 24-48 hours before: 50% refund.
• Other cases: no refund.

Child policy:

• Children under 10 accompanied by parents: 50% of adult fee.
• Children from 10 to under 16: 75% of adult fee.
• From 16 years old: full adult fee.
